Otoplasty involves correction
of mal-shaped ears, mainly prominent ears. Prominent ears or
malshaped ears are not only cosmetically disfiguring but also
have psychological ramifications. Therefore, early correction
of the deformity is beneficial.
The surgery is done
under suitable anaesthesia. An incision is taken behind the
ear to trim or reshape the cartilage. Excess skin if any may
also be excised.
You will have a soft compressive dressing over your ears post-operatively.
You will be advised to
rest with your head elevated and to apply cold compresses to
minimize swelling. You need to protect your ears and may be
advised to use headbands to hold the ears back. Stitches are
generally removed after 7 days.
You may have a detailed
discussion about this during your personal consultation. Some
of the possible complications include - anaesthesia related
complications, swelling, hematoma, asymmetry etc.
This includes:
- Lip Augmentation
- Lip Reduction
Fuller, well-defined and shapely lips
can be safely and easily achieved by lip augmentation techniques.
Various methods are available for lip augmentation:
1. Autologous Fat Transfer (AFT) - Safe and long lasting
2. Synthetic Materials - Office procedure but temporary.
(Restylane, Aquamid etc)
Very thick or fat lips
may be reduced in size by excising a measured strip of the
inner lining with the underlying muscle of the lip. This is
done as a day care procedure under local anaesthesia.
Cheek or chin dimples
are often considered attractive and many desire them.
"Natural-like" dimples can now be created by a simple
procedure wherein a strip of the inner lining of your cheeks
along with the underlying tissue is either excised or sutured
to the overlying cheek skin (in its deepest layer). The procedure
is done as a day care procedure.
Post-operatively you may feel that your "new" dimples
are exaggerated but they will settle down with time.
