Here your cosmetic surgeon will
assess your physical and emotional health and discuss your specific
cosmetic goals for the surgery. You must inform the doctor about -
your past and present medical and surgical history, your last menstrual
cycle or periods (female patients), any allergies, any addictions
(smoking etc) and any medications that you may have used in the past
or using presently. A meticulous examination of the specific area(s)
will be done. A detailed and frank discussion about the various options
(their benefits as well as their possible risks and complications)
for the desired cosmetic goal will be done.
You will be given general pre-operative advice that includes - stop
smoking well in advance; avoid medications that may increase bleeding
(eg. Aspirin etc) etc. The other specific pre-operative instructions
will depend on type of surgery and anaesthesia planned.
You will also be informed about specific postoperative care and
precautions. You must return to the doctor for postoperative checkups
as advised. |
